daily habits that make life better 𐙚 ‧₊˚ ⋅
I love a good routine. Some may think routines can get repetitive and boring, but for me, having a daily routine gives me purpose and pleasure. I like to incorporate a few habits into my routine that significantly increases my mood as well. Whether I’m having a good or bad day, these habits keep me grounded and bring peace into my life.
Scheduling
I keep a mini notepad from Papier on my coffee table where I write down a to-do list. On my to-do list, I put every little thing I want to get done: eating a good breakfast, meditating, doing laundry, reading, etc. Having a to-do list allows you to be productive everyday and feel accomplished, rather than waking up and not knowing what to do. During busy weeks, I’ll even write down the time frame I need to get each activity done by in order to ensure that I check off everything on the list. I highly recommend that you all start planning out your schedule to stay motivated towards your daily goals.
Going Outside
Whenever I’m feeling sad, I realize that sometimes it’s just because I haven’t seen the sun. Being stuck in your room all day can get suffocating, so having a change in environment will really help boost your mood. I’ve been trying to utilize the nice weather and go on 1 hour long walks recently. Not only does it give me energy, but it takes my mind away from any stress and allows me to be present.
Something You Love
What is something that makes you happy? For me, that’s drinking a matcha – so I make sure I either make a matcha or go to a cafe every morning. This simple pleasure of treating myself to a matcha gives me all the motivation and excitement I need to get out of bed. I’ll even mix it up sometimes by making a different kind of matcha, or going to a new cafe with friends. I encourage you to find what excites you to get out of bed, and start implementing it into your routine.
These habits are so simple, but so easy to forget. We tend to focus too much on other factors of our life that we neglect to do the smalls things that’ll help make our day better. These habits are not just chores but acts of self-care that keep us grounded and make each day a bit more special.
