The ULTIMATE Hot Girl Workout Routine
Summer is coming up so soon and you deserve to feel the best! Daily movement does not only help you get in shape but it is so beneficial for your physical and mental health. However, there’s so many different ways to stay active that will lead to different results. As someone who has tried literally every workout ever, I’m going to list a few of them that I have tried out these past few years, and what it has done for my body. So if you want to start adding in movement to your daily routine (which I highly encourage) this is a great way to start!
Strength Training
When I first got a gym membership, this just seemed like the right thing to do lol. I would go 3-4 times a week and split my days up between back, arms, legs and glutes. The goal here is to focus less on the number of reps you do and more about increasing the weights. You will 100% feel like a gym rat but it’s lowkey really fun. Strength training is a good way to build muscle and workout specific parts of your body, but you will only see results if you maintain a healthy diet. Personally, this was a great introduction to going to the gym, but I don’t lift heavy weights as much anymore since I found more enjoyment in other routines.
Walking + Running
This is the easiest way to get your daily movement in, and my personal favorite (atleast the walking part). I have always loved going on hikes with my mom back home in the midwest, and living in NYC forces me to walk a lot too. But if you don’t typically walk a lot, try walking 30 minutes everyday to start, and then try making it an hour. If you want to make it more intense, go on a treadmill and walk for 30 minutes at 12 incline and 3 speed. If you’re trying to slim down, doing this everyday will help. As for running, I am not as excited to run in the morning but I am trying to be. There is a lot of health benefits to running: improves your heart health, improves your sleep, lowers risk of cardiovascular disease. My friends who are active runners all tell me that it helps clear their mind too. Just keep in mind to fuel your body before you run, but not TOO much. I’ve made the mistake of not eating enough and almost passing out during my run, or eating too much and almost throwing up.
Boxing
Another way to help you stay active is by booking workout classes–because you paid for it you have no choice but to go. Boxing is becoming very popular and I even see training sessions being offered at local gyms. I trained for kickboxing with a personal trainer for about a year, and this was the most fit I have ever been my entire life. Beware: boxing is INTENSE. You need to be strong for this sport, so you have to do strength training on the side, and you need to work on cardio as well. I like personal training over group classes because you really get to learn each technique in detail, but private sessions are way more expensive. I really love boxing because it makes you feel like a badass, but I personally stopped because of the money and time commitment. However, I would definitely want to open that door again in the future if time and money allows me to.
Pilates
And finally, the workout for all the princesses. If you have been outside at all, then you know that pilates is the IT GIRL workout, and I totally understand why. A class is typically all girls which makes you feel so safe, and the instructors are so wholesome and encouraging. At the end of every session, they tell you to thank yourself for being there and being kind to your body (which I think is so cute). The whole point of pilates is to challenge your mind and your body. It’s difficult but not too intense. After doing it for about 5 months, I notice that my posture is a lot better, and I am a lot more flexible. Adding pilates with cardio and maintaining a healthy diet will help you look more toned and lean if that is what you are going for.
There are many more ways to stay active (which I can talk about in a future blog post), but these are just a few of my favorites! If you want to look and feel good this summer, try implementing one of these into your daily routine. You don’t need to go 100% right away, but try challenging yourself by working out once a week, then increase it when you can. Let me know if there’s another type of workout routine you enjoy as well. I am always looking for new ways to move my body.
